Olympiahalle, Munich March 1978 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising British rock group Uriah Heep at the Olympiahalle in Munich [Germany] on Tuesday, 28th March, 1978, presented by Interteam Tour Promotion, and with Stan Webb’s Chicken Shack as special guests. The concert in Munich was part of an eight-date German tour during March and April, in support of the Innocent Victim album, commencing at the Stadthalle in Bremerhaven on 20th March and ending at the Ostseehalle in Kiel on 4th April, 1978. It was the band’s second German tour within a few months, having already toured extensively in January. Recorded at Roundhouse Recording Studios in London and produced by Gerry Bron, the album was released in November 1977 by Bronze Records. It was the band’s eleventh album and the second to feature new vocalist John Lawton, replacing David Byron for the recording of the Firefly album. Although the album failed to chart in the US or UK, Innocent Victim was highly successful in Europe, selling well over 1 million copies in Germany alone. The single “Free Me”, written by Ken Hensley, was a #1 hit in New Zealand.
The poster measures e59.0 x 83.7 cm (approx. 23.2″ by 33″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. Light creasing to the bottom right corner, else in excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
