Hammersmith Odeon, London May 1972 concert program

Large original vintage concert program produced for American jazz pianist and composer Erroll Garner’s performance at the Hammesmith Odeon in London onSaturday, 6th May, 1972, presented by Robert Paterson. The concert in London was the only British appearance in 1972 and Garner was accompanied by bongo player José Mangual, bassist Ernest McCarty, and drummer Jimmie Smith — the same line-up with which he had just recorded the Gemini album, produced by Martha Glaser. After his contract with Mercury was up, Garner brought his Octave label to London Records. While a lot of other players in his generation were moving to the Fender Rhodes and nudging toward commercial R&B or fusion, Garner continued to play acoustic piano in his singular and classic way. Erroll Garner died from lung cancer on 2nd January, 1977.

In original pictorial matte-coated wrappers, staple bound, 21.0 x 29.7 cm, 8 pp. Just a touch of light surface handling wear, else in near excellent condition, tightly bound and clean. Additional images of the program available on request.
