Schumann-Saal, Düsseldorf November 1979 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz guitarist Barney Kessel at the Schumann-Saal in Düsseldorf [Germany] on Wednesday, 21st November, 1979, presented by Karsten Jahnke in cooperation with René Heinersdorff. Noted in particular for his knowledge of chords and inversions and chord-based melodies, he was a member of many prominent jazz groups as well as a “first call” guitarist for studio, film, and television recording sessions. Kessel, who had been in poor health after suffering a stroke in 1992, died at his home in San Diego on 6th May, 2004 at the age of 80.

The poster measures 61.0 x 86.2 cm (approx. 24″ x 33.9″ inches) and is printed on thin, smooth-finish paper stock. There is edge wear and a number of small rips to the entire right side border. A piece of acid-free archival tape has been attached to the right side border on the back of the poster. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
