1978 Japanese ABC Impulse!/Columbia Records promo poster
Original first printing John Coltrane (1926–1967) promotional poster issued by ABC Impulse!/Columbia Records in 1978. Coltrane recorded for Impulse! from 1961 up until his death in 1967. The ABC Impulse! catalog was manufactured by Nippon Columbia in Japan in the 1970s. In 1979 ABC Records and its Impulse! label was sold to MCA Records, whose partner in Japan was Victor. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 72.5 x 51.4 cm (approx. 28.5″ by 20.2″ inches) and is beautifully printed in dark blue ink on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock.
