Wartburg Music Hall, Wiesbaden December 1980 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising British ska revival band The Selecter at the Wartburg Music Hall in Wiesbaden [Germany] on Monday, 8th December, 1980, presented by Sunrise Concertbüro in cooperation with Alpha Concerts. The Selecter were touring in support of their debut album, Too Much Pressure, produced by the band themselves and released on 23rd February, 1980, on Jerry Dammers 2 Tone Records. Critically and  commercially successful, the album reached #5 on the UK Album chart, and the two singles “Three Minute Hero” and “Missing Words” both made the Top 25. The Selecter split up in 1982 but have sporadically reformed since 1994. The band was fronted by singer Pauline Black of whom Rolling Stone wrote:  “Hands down, Pauline Black possessed the best voice that ever graced a 2-Tone release. Blessed with a bewitching soprano and dramatic panache, Black’s voice reached plateaus that made every other musical detail sound like part of a backdrop painted just to set the stage for her entrance.”

The poster measures 59.4 x 84.2 cm (approx. 23.4″ by 33.1″ inches) and is beautifully printed in pink and black inks on thin, coated paper stock. Very light edge wear to the upper left side border, else in excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
