Neue Welt, Berlin February 1980 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising Irish rock group The Boomtown Rats at the Neue Welt in Berlin [Germany] on Sunday, 3rd February, 1980, presented by Lippmann+Rau in cooperation with Concert Concept. The concert in Berlin was part of the band’s February 1980 nationwide tour of Germany in support of The Fine Art of Surfacing — their third studio album, produced by Mutt Lange and Phil Wainman. Released in October 1979, the album was a critical success, praised for being novel in both its lyrical flair and modern pounce. Containing the singles “I Don’t Like Mondays”, “Diamond Smiles”, and “Someone’s Looking at You”, the album peaked at #7 in the UK Albums Chart, while “I Don’t Like Mondays” reached #1 in the UK Singles Chart.

The poster measures 59.5 x 84.2 cm (approx. 23.4″ by 33.1″ inches) and is beautifully printed in red and black inks on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. There is a small diagonal crease to the bottom left corner and a small closed rip to the center of the bottom border, else in remarkably near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
