1982 Japanese E.G. Records/Polydor KK promo poster for “Avalon”

Original first printing Roxy Music promotional poster issued by E.G. Records/Polydor KK in Japan in 1982 to promote the release of the Avalon album, the band’s eighth and final studio album, produced by Rhett Davies and released on 28th May, 1982. Containing the singles “More than This”, “Avalon”, and “Take a Chance with Me”, Avalon is Roxy Music’s most successful studio album, reaching #53 on the Billboard 200. It endured as a “sleeper hit” and became Roxy Music’s lone million-selling US record, and was ultimately certified Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for selling over 1,000,000 certified units. Regarded as the culmination of the smoother, more adult-oriented sound of the band’s later work, the album has been credited with pioneering the so-called sophisti-pop genre. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never commercially available.

The poster measures 51.3 x 73.0 cm (approx. 20.2″ by 28.7″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
