December 1970 UK concert tour program
Original concert program produced for the Oscar Peterson Trio’s December 1970 British tour, presented by Harold Davison by in association with Norman Granz. For the tour bassist Sam Jones and drummer Bobby Durham had been replaced by George “Jiri” Mraz and Ray Price, respectively. With this new group, Peterson had recorded the album Walking the Line. Recorded at MPS-Studios in Villingen, Germany and produced by Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer, the album . His mastery of the ballad form is heard in his sensitive interpretation of “Once Upon a Summertime”, which also showcases Mraz’s gorgeous tone.
In original illustrated uncoated wrappers, staple bound, 20.8 x 25.7 cm, 20 pp. Program notes by jazz critic Benny Green. In excellent complete condition, tightly bound and clean. Additional images of the program available on request.
