Gaumont State, Kilburn September 1959 concert flyer 

Original vintage first printing concert flyer advertising the Newport Jazz Festival at the Gaumont State in Kilburn [England] on Sunday, 20th September, 1959, presented by Harold Davison by arrangement with George Wein. Compere was jazz producer and broadcaster on the “Voice of America”, Willis Conover. Performing artists included the Dave Brubeck Quartet, the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet and the Buck Clayton All Stars, and the great Jimmy Rushing, accompanied by the Vic Ash Quintet. Besides the leader himself, Dizzy’s quintet featured alto saxophonist and flautist Leo Wright, pianist Junior Mance, bassist Art Davis, and drummer Les Humphrey, while Clayton’s group featured trumpeter Emmett Berry, trombonist Dickie Wells, tenor saxophonist Buddy Tate, alto saxophonist Earl Warren, pianist Al Williams, bassist Gene Ramey, and drummer Herbie Lovelle.

The flyer measures 14.2 x 22.6 cm and is printed in red and black inks on thin, matte-coated paper stock. Complete with the original postal booking form still intact.
