October 1965 UK concert tour program

Original vintage concert program for the Modern Jazz Quartet’s October 1965 nationwide tour of Great Britain, presented by Harold Davison. Two albums were recorded and released prior to the European tour, namely The Modern Jazz Quartet Plays George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Jazz Dialogue, both produced by Nesuhi Ertegun and released on Atlantic Records. The full itinerary for the 6-date tour was as follows: Royal Festival Hall, London (16th Oct), Winter Gardens, Bournemouth (17th Oct), Town Hall, Birmingham (20th Oct), Fairfield Hall, Croydon (21st Oct), Free Trade Hall, Manchester (23rd Oct), and New Victoria Theatre, London (24th Oct). The program has been authentically signed (“Best Wishes Sincerely John Lewis”) by pianist and leader John Lewis inside the program.

In original blue and black pictorial wrappers, staple bound, 20.8 x 25.8 cm, 20 pp. Program notes by Derek Jewell. There is a faint vertical fold running down the middle of the program, else in near excellent condition, tightly bound and clean. Additional photos available on request.
