October 1981 Japanese concert tour program

Large original vintage program book lavishly produced for the Miles Davis’ October 1981 Japanese tour, in support of The Man with the Horn — a studio album, produced by Teo Macero and released in July 1981 by Columbia Records. It was Miles’ first new release since 1975, following a six-year reclusive retirement. The album marked a return to his more traditional trumpet playing, although the title song “The Man with the Horn” features wah-wah improvisation along with vocals. The band for the 1981 Japanese tour featured bassist Marcus Miller, saxophonist Bill Evans, drummer Al Foster, guitarist Mike Stern, and percussionist Mino Cinelu.

In original pictorial matte-coated wrappers, staple bound, 25.8 x 36.4 cm, 32 pp. All text in Japanese. In excellent complete condition, tightly bound and clean. Additional images of the program available on request.
