June/July 1973 Japanese concert tour program

Large original vintage program book lavishly produced for Miles Davis’ June/July 1973 Japanese tour, in support of On the Corner — a studio album, produced by Teo Macero and released on 11th October, 1972 by Columbia Records. Recorded at Columbia Studio E in New York City in June and July 1972, the album continued Davis’s exploration of jazz fusion, bringing together funk rhythms with the influence of experimental composer Karlheinz Stockhausen and free jazz saxophonist Ornette Coleman. Miles’ band for the 1973 Japanese tour featured Dave Liebman (ss, ts, fl); Pete Cosey (g, perc); Reggie Lucas (g); Michael Henderson (el-b); Al Foster (d); and James Mtume Forman (cga, perc).

In original, pictorial coated wrappers, staple bound, 25.7 x 36.4 cm, 32 pp. All text in Japanese. In excellent complete condition, tightly bound and clean. Additional images of the program available on request.
