Kongresshalle, Frankfurt January 1972 concert poster (Izquierdo)

Original first printing concert poster advertising Stan Kenton and His Orchestra at the Kongresshalle in Frankfurt [Germany] on Sunday, 23rd January, 1972, presented by Norman Granz and Lippmann+Rau. Kenton’s orchestra for the European tour featured Chuck Carter, Kim Frizell, Quin Davis, Richard Torres, Willie Maiden (saxophones); Dick Shearer, Fred Carter, Mike Jamieson, Mike Wallace, Phil Herring (trombones); Dennis Moday, Jay Saunders, Joe Marcinkiewycz, Mike Vax, Ray Brown (trumpets); John Worster (bass); John von Phlen (drums); and Ramon Lope (percussion). When Kenton took to the road during the early 1970s and up to his last tour, he took with him seasoned veteran musicians (John Worster, Willie Maiden, Warren Gale, Graham Ellis and others) teaming them with relatively unknown young artists, and new arrangements. He continued leading and touring with his big band up to his final performance in August 1978. The poster features artwork by Izquierdo from a photo by Hans Harzheim.

The poster measures 59.1 x 84.2 cm (approx. 23.2″ by 33.1″ inches) and is beautifully printed in black ink on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent condition, unfolded and clean. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
