Description

Late 1970s Japanese Trio Records promo poster (Yasuhisa Yoneda)

Original first printing Elvin Jones (1927–2004) promotional poster issued by Trio Records in Japan in the late 1970s, presumably around 1978 and the release of Live in Japan 1978: Dear John C. album – a live album, recorded at the Yomiuri Hall in Tokyo on 8th & 9th April, 1978, produced by Kaz Harada and Ken Inaoka, and released on Trio Records, a Japanese record label founded in 1969 by the Kasuga brothers. At the time, the Jazz Machine featured tenor saxophonist Pat LaBarbera, soprano saxophonist Frank Foster, guitarist Roland Prince, and bassist Andy McClaud. The poster features a photo by jazz photographer Yasuhisa Yoneda (sometimes transliterated as “Yoshihisa Yoneda”), with his imprint (Y. Yoneda) to the lower left side of the poster. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 72.5 x 51.4 cm (approx. 28.5″ by 20.2″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. Light sporadic surface handling wear, else in remarkably near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
