Description

Early 1970s Japanese Prestige Records promo poster

Original first printing Red Garland (1923–1984) promotional poster issued by Prestige in Japan in the early 1970s. Prestige Records was founded in 1949 by Bob Weinstock in New York City. The company recorded hundreds of albums by many of the leading jazz musicians of the day, including John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Thelonious Monk, and Sonny Rollins. Red Garland recorded for Prestige from 1957–1971. Prestige Records was bought by Fantasy Records in 1971, who licensed Victor Music Industries to reissue select titles in Japan from their back catalog. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 72.6 x 51.4 cm (approx. 28.6″ by 20.2″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
