Tonhalle, Düsseldorf May 1984 concert poster (Izquierdo)

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald (1917–1996) at the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf [Germany] on Sunday, 13th May, 1984, presented by René Heinersdorff. For the tour Fitzgerald was accompanied by the Paul Smith Trio (featuring bassist Keter Betts and drummer Bobby Durham), and with virtuoso jazz guitarist Joe Pass as special guest. The previous year Fitzgerald and Pass had recorded Speak Love, a studio album produced by Norman Granz and released by Pablo Records. It was the third of Fitzgerald’s series of duets with Pass, following Take Love Easy (1973) and Fitzgerald and Pass … Again (1976). A later album, Easy Living, followed in 1986. The poster features artwork by Izquierdo from a photo by Hans Harzheim, with their imprints to the bottom left corner.

The poster measures 83.8 x 59.0 cm (approx. 33″ by 23.2″ inches) and is printed in yellow and black inks on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition, clean and unmarked. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
