Théâtre du Capitole, Toulouse April 1972 concert poster (Anon.)

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz pianist and composer Erroll Garner (1921–1977) at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse [France] on Sunday, 30th April, 1972, presented by the Hot-Club de la Haute-Garonne. Garner was accompanied by bongo player José Mangual, bassist Ernest McCarty, and drummer Jimmie Smith — the same line-up with which he had just recorded the Gemini album, produced by business partner and manager Martha Glaser. After his contract with Mercury was up, Garner brought his Octave label to London Records. While a lot of other players in his generation were moving to the Fender Rhodes and nudging toward commercial R&B or fusion, Garner continued to play acoustic piano in his singular and classic way. Erroll Garner died from lung cancer on 2nd January, 1977.

Printed by Imprimerie du Sud-Ouest, Toulouse, with the printer’s imprint to the bottom right corner. The poster measures 29.8 x 40.0 cm and is printed in yellow and black inks on thin, matte-coated paper stock (coated on front only). In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
