Original October 1959 issue of the German jazz magazine “Schlagzeug” (trans. “drums”) with the great Duke Ellington (1899—1974) on the front cover. This issue contains the article “MJQ – in Wiedersehen” by Siegfried Schmidt and “Jimmy Smith — Revolution auf der Orgel” by H. Lukas. Also in this issue:  Miles Davis, Benny Goodman, Jazz in Poland, Sonny Stitt, Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, Papa Bue’s Viking Jazz Band, and more. Schlagzeug was a collectible but short-lived German jazz magazine, crammed with news, reviews, pictures and adverts. Published in Berlin during the late 1950’s.

15.3 x 21.8 mm, 36 pp. Trimmed paper wrapper, staple bound. All text in German. In excellent unmarked condition, appears unread. Additional photos available on request.
