October 1975 UK concert tour program

Original vintage concert program produced for “The Pablo Jazz Festival” tour of Great Britain during October 1975, presented by Harold Davison. Performing artists featured jazz greats Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie. Ella Fitzgerald was accompanied by pianist Tommy Flanagan, drummer Bobby Durham, and bassist Keter Betts. Count Basie’s orchestra featured Sonny Cohn, George Minger, Frank Szabo, David Stahl, Robert Mitchell (trumpets); Bill Hughes, Mel Wanzo, Al Grey, Curtis Fuller (trombones); Eric Dixon, Danny Turner, Jimmy Forrest, Bobby Plater, Charlie Fowlkes (saxophones); Charles Miles (drums); Freddie Green (guitar); John Duke (bass); and Bill Caffie (vocals). Pablo Records was a record label founded by Norman Granz in 1973, roughly a decade after he had sold his jazz labels to MGM Records. Pablo initially featured recordings by acts that Granz managed: Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson and Joe Pass. Later, recordings by Count Basie, John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie and Sarah Vaughan were added. In 1987 the label was acquired by Fantasy Records.
