Education Hall, Yokohama November 1988 concert flyer

Original double-sided first printing concert flyer advertising American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger Ray Bryant at the Education Hall in Yokohama [Japan] on Thursday, 24th November, 1988, accompanied by bassist Walter Booker and drummer Ben Riley. The concert in Yokohama was part of a nationwide tour of Japan during November and December 1988 in support of the Golden Earrings album – a studio album recorded with Rufus Reid (bass) and Freddie Waits (drums), and released on the EmArcy label in 1988. Between 1976 and 1980, Bryant recorded five albums for Norman Granz’ Pablo Records, but for the following seven years, he did not record as a leader. This ended when an admiring producer for Japanese Polygram recruited him. Between 1987 and 1995 he recorded ten albums for them (also released on EmArcy). Bryant died on 2nd June, 2011, at the age of 79 in Queens, New York, after a long illness.

The flyer measures 18.2 x 25.7 cm (approx. 7.1″ by 10.1″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the flyer available on request.
