May 1958 German concert tour program + ticket
Original vintage concert program produced for American clarinetist and bandleader Benny Goodman’s May 1958 German tour, presented by Wolfgang Jänicke. Goodman’s orchestra for the European tour featured tenor saxophonists Zoot Sims and Al Block; alto saxophonist Nick Caiazza; baritone saxophonist Gene Allen; trumpeters Taft Jordan, Johnny Frosk, Billy Hodges, and E. V. Perry; trombonists Rex Peer, Vernon Brown, and Willie Dennis; pianist Roland Henna; guitarist Billy Bauer; bassist Arvell Shaw; drummer Roy Burns; and vocalists Ethel Ennis and Jimmy Rushing. Original ticket for the concert at the Kongresshalle in Frankfurt on Sunday, 11th May, 1958 stuck to the inside of the front wrapper.
In original green and black pictorial coated wrappers, staple bound, 22.0 x 27.0 cm, 28 pp. Program notes in German by Siegfried Schmidt. Light wear to spine and extremities, else in excellent complete condition, tightly bound and clean. Additional images of the program available on request.
