Late 1970s/early 1980s Japanese Milestone/Victor Records promo poster
Original first printing Ron Carter (1937) promotional poster issued by Milestone/Victor Records in Japan in the late 1970s/early 1980s. Milestone Records was founded in 1966 by Orrin Keepnews and Dick Katz in New York City. Keepnews was previously co-founder of Riverside Records with Bill Grauer, however when Riverside eventually filed for bankruptcy around 1964, Keepnews found a new partner and launched Milestone. The company was bought by Fantasy Records in 1972. Since then, it has produced LP reissues (including items from the Riverside label) as well as new recordings. Carter recorded for Milestone from 1976–1981. Fantasy Records licensed Victor Music Industries to reissue select titles from their Riverside and Milestone catalogs. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 51.3 x 72.5 cm (approx. 20.2″ by 28.5″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, dull-coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
