July 1964 UK concert tour program + ticket

Original vintage concert program for American jazz clarinetist and big band leader Woody Herman’s July 1964 tour of Great Britain, presented by Harold Davison. This was the Fourth Herd featuring Bill Chase, Billy Hunt, Paul Fontaine, Gerry Lamy, and Danny Nolan (trumpets); Phil Wilson, Henry Southall, and Kenny Wenzel (trombones); Sal Nistico, Garry Klein, Tom Anastos, and Joe Romano (saxophones); Nat Pierce (piano); Chuck Andrus (bass); and Jake Hanna (drums). The 1964 British tour was a short 4-date tour with concerts in Portsmouth (7th July), Croydon (8th July), Birmingham (10th July) and Finsbury Park (11th July), usually with two performances each night. The program has been authentically signed on the rear by saxophonist Sal Nistico and trumpeter Bill Chase. A few newspaper clippings and an original ticket for the concert at the Town Hall in Birmingham on 10th July, 1964, laid in.

In original orange and black pictorial wrappers, staple bound, 21.1 x 26.6 cm, 20 pp. Program notes by Peter Clayton. The staples are a little rusty, else in near excellent condition, tightly bound and clean. Additional photos available on request.
