Olympia, Paris January 1959 concert poster

Exceedingly scarce vintage original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz, jump blues and rhythm and blues trumpeter Cootie Williams’ two performances at the famous Olympia in Paris [France] on Saturday, 31st January, 1959, accompanied by saxophonist/flautist George Clark, drummer Lester Jenkins, pianist Arnold Jarvis and guitarist Larry Dale (Willie Lowery). The album Live in Paris was recorded at this show. Cootie Williams died in New York on 15th September, 1985, at age 74. He is interred in Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx. He was inducted in the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame in 1991.

The poster measures 40.1 x 57.0 cm (approx. 15.8″ by 22.4″ inches) and is beautifully printed in green, purple and black inks on thin, uncoated paper stock. Almost 60 (!) years old but still in remarkably near excellent condition. Additional photos available on request.
