1994 Japanese Virgin Records/Toshiba EMI promo poster for “Voodoo Lounge”

Original first printing Rolling Stones promotional poster issued by Virgin Records/Toshiba EMI in Japan in 1994 to promote the release of the Voodoo Lounge album – the band’s twentieth studio album, produced by the Glimmer Twins and Don Was, and originally released in July 1994 on Virgin Records. The album was their band’s first release under their new alliance with Virgin Records and their first studio album in five years, since the release of Steel Wheels in 1989. Voodoo Lounge is also the band’s first album without original bassist Bill Wyman, who left the band in early 1991. Wyman was unofficially replaced by Darryl Jones,  who performed with the Stones in the studio and on tour as a contracted player. Containing the singles “Love Is Strong”, “You Got Me Rocking”, “Out of Tears”, and “I Go Wild”, the album received generally positive reviews. It reached #2 on the Billboard 200 in July 1994, and stayed on the charts for 38 weeks. It was certified 2x Platinum in December 1994 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales exceeding two million copies in the US alone. In the UK the album went straight to #1 and was certified Gold by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) for sales exceeding 100,000 copies. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 51.1 x 72.6 cm (approx. 20.1″ by 28.5″ inches) and is beautifully printed on medium-thin, coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
