Shimizu Civic Hall, Shizuoka November 1978 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz singer Anita O’Day at the Shimizu Civic Hall in Shizuoka [Japan] on Thursday, 16th November, 1978. The L.A. Four  was a jazz quartet that performed in Lons Angeles from 1974 to 1982. Its members were guitarist Laurindo Almeido, saxophonist and flutist Bud Shank, bassist Ray Brown, and drummer Shelly Manne. Manne was replaced by Jeff Hamilton after 1977. They performed a mixture of straight-ahead jazz on the “cool” side, influenced by European Classical music, and bossa nova and samba (Almeida was born in Brazil). They recorded ten albums before disbanding. Chuck Flores was the group’s original drummer but did not record with them.

The poster measures 51.3 x 72.8 cm (approx. 20.2″ by 28.6″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. There is a tack hole to each corner and light overall surface handling wear, else in near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
