Original first printing concert poster advertising The Great Guitars at the Schumann-Saal in Düsseldorf [Germany] on Saturday, 7th October, 1978, presented by Karsten Jahnke in cooperation with René Heinersdorff. The Great Guitars was a supergroup formed by jazz guitarists Charlie Byrd (1925–1999), Herb Ellis (1921–2010), and Barney Kessel (1923–2004) in 1973. The trio performed intermittently from 1973 and released several live albums: Great Guitars (1975), Great Guitars 2 (1976), Great Guitars at the Winery (1980), Great Guitars: Straight Tracks (1991), Return of the Great Guitars (1996), Great Guitars Concord Jazz (2005). After a stroke ended Kessel’s career in 1992, Ron Escheté, Mundell Lowe, Larry Coryell, and Tal Farlow variously joined Byrd and Ellis in later concerts. The poster features artwork by Paul-Helmut Zrocke with the artist’s imprint to the bottom right corner.

The poster measures 59.4 x 84.0 cm (approx. 23.4″ by 33.1″ inches) and is printed on thin, coated paper stock. Neatly folded twice, else in excellent condition, clean and unmarked.
