1984 Japanese Elektra/Warner-Pioneer Corporation promotional poster for “Heartbeat City”

Large original first printing The Cars promotional poster issued by Elektra/Warner-Pioneer Corporation in Japan in 1984 to promote the release of the Heartbeat City album – the band’s fifth studio album, produced by Mutt Lange, and originally released in March 1984 on Elektra Records. Containing the hit singles “Drive” and “You Might Think”, the album was a huge commercial success and reached #3 on the Billboard 200. It stayed on the chart for 67 weeks and was certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales exceeding 4,000,000 copies in the US alone. And in the UK it was certified Gold by the BPI  for sales exceeding 100,000 copies. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.

The poster measures 59.3 x 84.0 cm (approx. 23.3″ by 33.1″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. Light sporadic edge wear, else in near excellent unfolded condition.
