1980 Japanese Elektra/Warner-Pioneer Corporation promo poster for “Panorama”
Original first printing The Cars promotional poster issued by Elektra/Warner-Pioneer in Japan in 1980 to promote the release of the Panorama album – the band’s third studio album, produced by Roy Thomas Baker, and originally released on 15th August, 1980 on Elektra Records. Representing a change in sound, the album was considered more experimental than its predecessors, The Cars (1978) and Candy-O (1979). Containing the hit single “Touch and Go”, the album reached #5 on the Billboard 200 and stayed 28 weeks on the charts. Although it received mixed critical reviews, Panorama was certified Platinum in October 1980 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales exceeding one million copies in the US. The poster was for promotional purposes only, and was never made commercially available.
The poster measures 83.7 x 59.3 cm (approx. 33″ by 23.3″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, coated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
