April 1958 UK concert tour program

Original vintage concert program produced for Sarah Vaughan’s April 1958 nationwide tour of Great Britain, presented by Lew & Leslie Grade by arrangement with Harold Davison, and with Ted Heath, the Jazz Couriers featuring Ronnie Scott and Tubby Hayes, and the Tony Kinsey Quintet also on the bill (depending on venue). The tour commenced with two concerts at the Odeon Leicester Square in London on 12th & 13th April and ended at the Regal Cinema in Edmonton (London) on 27th April. This was Vaughan’s third visit to Great Britain and for the tour she was accompanied by pianist Ronnell Bright, bassist Richard Davis, and drummer Art Morgan. 1958 was also the year where Vaughan’s personal and professional relationship with hsubond and husbond George Treadwell ended. By 1959 Vaughan had left Mercury Records and signed on with Morris Levy’s Roullette, and appointed Clyde “C.B.” Atkins as her new manager.

In original pink and black uncoated pictorial wrappers, staple bound, 20.9 x 26.8 cm, 20 pp. There is a faint vertical fold running down the middle of the program as well as light wear to spine and extremities. Running list of songs performed neatly written in blue on the center pages. Additional images of the program available on request.
