Dom Omladine, Belgrade November 1969 concert program

Original vintage concert program produced for American jazz singer Sarah Vaughan’s performance at the Dom Omladine in Belgrade [Serbia] on Wednesday, 12th November, 1969, accompanied by pianist John Veith, bassist Gus Mancuso, and drummer Edward Pucci. The concert in Belgrade came only three days after her impressive performance at the Philharmonie in Berlin putting the ‘boo boys’ to shame. The audience at the Berliner Jazz Tage had a dubious reputation. Anyone not playing free jazz was in for a hard time, and Vaughan’s ballad-heavy repertoire was considered ‘upscale entertainment for the establishment’. And partly due to the Vietnam war a certain anti-Americanism also prevailed. Vaughan, however, was unimpressed, and delivered a triumphant show with her trio, which a recording of the concert clearly demonstrates.

Original pictorial two-fold brochure, 10.0 x 26.1 cm (folded). All text in Serbo-Croatian. In excellent unmarked condition. Additional images of the program available on request.
