February 1969 UK concert tour program
Original vintage concert program for the PREMIER PERCUSSION February 1969 package tour of Great Britain, presented by Harold Davison and Premier Drums. Performing artists included The Roland Kirk Quartet, The Kenny Clarke—Francy Boland Big Band, and The Philly Joe Jones Group. For what it’s worth, Premier insisted only their brand were used on the tour. Philly Joe Jones had been in London since 1967 and was teaching at a specially organized school in Hampstead, London, but was prevented from otherwise working in the UK by the Musicians’ Union, with the Premier Percussion tour an obvious exception.
In original blue and black pictorial wrappers, staple bound, 20.9 x 25.7 cm, 20 pp. Program notes by Benny Green. Light wear to spine and extremities, else in near excellent condition, tightly bound and unmarked. Additional photos available on request.
