October 1967 European concert tour program & ticket stub (Kieser)

Original vintage program book for the Oscar Peterson Trio’s October 1967 European tour with tenor saxophonist Coleman Hawkins. By this time, Coleman Hawkins was clearly past his best. Whether it was senility or frustration, he began to lose interest in life. He practically quit eating, increased his drinking, and quickly wasted away. Very little of Hawkins’ work during his final three and a half years is up to the level one would expect from the great master. A recording from this tour was released on CD in 2006 called The Oscar Peterson Trio Meets Coleman Hawkins and was recorded in Hannover, Germany on 23rd October, 1967. Coleman Hawkins died of pneumonia on 19th May, 1969. Ticket stub for the concert at the Rheinhalle in Düsseldorf on Tuesday, 24th October, laid in

In original typographical matte-coated wrappers (featuring delicate artwork by Günther Kieser), staple bound, 27.7 x 25.5 cm, 12 pp. Program notes in English. One sheet with program notes translated into German laid in. Near fine, tightly bound and clean. Additional photos available on request.
