Paris: Jazz Magazine #3 February 1955

Original February 1955 issue of the French jazz monthly Jazz Magazine with Canadian jazz pianist and composer Oscar Peterson (1925—2007) on the front cover. Also in this issue: Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Paul Whiteman, Brew Moore, Jazz At The Philharmonic, and Mary-Lou Williams. Founded by Nicole and Eddie Barclay and Jacques Souplet in 1954, Jazz Magazine was intended as an alternative to the established Jazz Hot magazine. Jazz critic Frank Tenot and photographer, art collector and concert promoter Daniel Filipacchi became directors of Jazz Magazine shortly after its creation. They bought Jazz Magazine in 1956, laying the foundation for what would become a publishing empire.
