Congresgebouw, The Hague July 1979 concert poster

Striking large original first printing concert poster advertising the NORTH SEA JAZZ FESTIVAL ’77 staged at the Congresgebouw in The Hague [Holland] from 13th to 15th July, 1979, presented by Paul Acket. Performing artists included Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Dollar Brand, Sam Rivers, Archie Sheep, the Mingus Dynasty, Albert Collins, Monty Alexander, Pharaoh Sanders, Herb Ellis, Chet Baker, Buck Clayton, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Dave Brubeck, Sun Ra Arkestra, Luther Allison, B.B. King, Woody Herman, Milt Jackson, Sonny Stitt, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Lionel Hampton, Muddy Waters, Taj Mahal, Dexter Gordon, Joe Pass, George Shearing, Jay McShann, Clark Terry, and many more. The North Sea Jazz Festival was the brainchild of Dutch promoter Paul Acket. It was his intention to present a great diversity of jazz music to the public, from American jazz to European avant-garde. Although Acket died in 1992, the annual festival continued and is now acknowledged as the “biggest indoor jazz festival in the world”.

The poster is huge and measures 82.5 x 117.5 cm (approx. 32.5″ by 46.3″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, uncoated paper stock. Very light edge wear and slight foxing to the lower left side border, else in near excellent unfolded condition. Additional photos available on request.
