November 1969 UK concert tour program + ticket
Original vintage concert program produced for American jazz singer, songwriter, pianist, and civil rights activist Nina Simone’s 3-date British tour during November 1969, in support of the To Love Somebody album, and with The Swordsmen as special guests. Recorded at RCA Studios in New York City and produced by Andrew Stroud and Danny Davis, To Love Somebody was released as quickly as possible to prolong the unexpected success of ‘Nuff Said! The title is taken from the Bee Gees song “To Love Somebody”. Simone’s cover of the song became her second British hit single after “Ain’t Got No-I Got Life”. The program has been authentically signed by Simone on the front cover. Original ticket stub for the concert at the London Palladium on 16th November, 1969, laid in.
In original pictorial gold and black matte-coated wrappers, staple bound, 21.3 x 27.7 cm, 8 pp. There is a vertical fold running down the middle of the program and light wear to spine and extremities. Additional images of the program available on request.
