Théâtre National Populaire, Paris October 1971 concert poster (Jacno)

Original vintage first printing concert poster advertising Newport à Paris staged at the Théâtre National Populaire in Paris [France] from 22nd to 28th October, 1971. Performing artists included the Ornette Coleman Quartet, Gary Burton, the Kid Thomas Preservation Hall Band, the Giants of Jazz, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and the Miles Davis Septet. The Giants of Jazz featured Dizzy Gillespie, Kai Winding, Sonny Stitt, Thelonious Monk, Al McKibbon, and Art Blakey. Miles’ band consisted of Gary Bartz (ss, as); Keith Jarrett (el-p, org); Michael Henderson (el-b); Ndugu Leon Chancler (d); Charles Don Alias (cga, perc); and James Mtume Foreman (cga, perc). The poster features artwork by renowned French graphic artist Marcel Jacno (1904—1989).

The poster measures 38.0 x 58.4 cm (approx. 15″ by 23″ inches) and is beautifully printed in red and blue inks on thin, dull-coated paper stock (coated on front only).
