Theatre Alcazar, Marseille February 1964 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk at the Theatre Alcazar in Marseille [France] on Thursday, 27th February, 1964, presented by Le Jazz-Club du Sud-est and Jazz Hot magazine, and with Pierre Jaillard and his trio as the opening act. For the European tour Monk was accompanied by tenor saxophonist Charlie Rouse, bassist Butch Warren, and drummer Ben Riley.

The poster measures 32.5 x 49.7 cm and is printed on thin, matte-coated paper stock (coated on front only). Printer’s imprint (Imp. Ricard S.A.F., Marseille) to the bottom left corner.
