April 1966 UK concert tour program

Original vintage concert program produced for the Thelonious Monk Quartet’s four-date tour of Great Britain during April 1966, commencing with two shows at the Festival Hall in London on 23rd April and ending at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester on 29th April. The other stops on this tour were Fairfield Hall, Croydon (25th April) and Town Hall, Birmingham (27th April). Presented by Harold Davison and George Wein, Monk’s quartet for the European tour featured tenor saxophonist Charlie Rouse, drummer Ben Riley, and bassist Larry Gayles.

In original purple and black pictorial uncoated wrappers, staple bound, 20.8 x 26.0 cm, 36 pp. Program notes by Peter Clayton. There is a faint vertical fold running down the middle, else in near excellent complete condition, tightly bound and clean. Additional images of the program available on request.
