Freiheitshalle, Hof May 1979 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising British rock group Manfred Mann’s Earth Band at the Freiheitshalle in Hof [Germany] on Thursday, 17th May, 1979, presented by Interteam Tour Promotion in cooperation with Concertbüro Hänsel. The concert in Hof was part of the band’s German tour during April and May in support of the Angel Station album. Produced by Anthony Moore and Manfred Mann, the album was released on 9th March, 1979 by Bronze Records. Several line-up changes were made for this album. Ex-Wings drummer Geoff Britton replaced founding drummer Chris Slade and Steve Waller replaced guitarist Dave Flett. Britton left the band soon after due to illness, and was replaced by John Lingwood. Containing the singles “You Angel You” and “Don’t Kill It Carol”, the album reached a modest #144 on the Billboard 200. It was announced after the tour that singer/guitarist Chris Thompson would be leaving the band to pursue his own group, Night, but the group quickly faded after scoring two hits and Thompson was back in time for the Earth Band’s next album, Chance (1980).

The poster measures 59.1 x 83.7 cm (approx. 23.3″ by 33″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
