Funkhaus, Hannover February 1965 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising French pianist and composer Jacques Loussier (1934—2019) at the Funkhaus in Hannover [Germany] on Thursday, 18th February, 1965, accompanied by double bassist Pierre Michelot (1928—2005) and drummer Christian Garros (1920—1988), and presented by Egon Steiner. Formed in 1959 by Loussier, Garros and Michelot (who had previously played with Django Reinhardt and the Quintette du Hot Club de France), the Jacques Loussier Trio used the compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach as a base for jazz improvisation and made many live appearances, tours, and concerts, as well as a number of recordings. The trio began with Decca Records but changed to Philips/Phonogram in 1973. They sold over six million albums in 15 years. Their best known recording is “Air on the G String”, which was used to advertise the Hamlet brand of cigar in the UK for over 30 years.

Printed by Plakatdruckerei Wurm, München, the poster measures 59.0 x 83.8 cm and is printed in green and black inks on thin, uncoated paper stock. There are a few tiny rips to the lower left side border, else in remarkably near excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
