Deutsches Museum, Munich September 1959 concert flyer


Large original first printing concert flyer advertising American jazz trombonist Kid Ory (1886–1973) at the Deutsches Museum in Munich [Germany] on Friday, 25th September, 1959,  presented by Norman Granz. Ory was accompanied by a band that featured trumpeter Henry “Red” Allen, clarinetist Bob McCracken, bassist William Girsback, drummer Alton Redd, and pianist Cedric Haywood. The show in Munich was part of  10-date nationwide tour of Germany, commencing at the Ernst Merck Halle in Hamburg on 20th September and ending at the Volksbildungsheim in Frankfurt on 30th September. The German dates were the first stops on a long European tour that continued through October and early November, visiting Austria, France, Sweden, Denmark, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Holland, and Belgium, en route. The flyer features artwork by noted graphic duo, Hans Michel and Günther Kieser, with their imprint to the center of the right side border.

The flyer measures 21.1 x 30.5 cm and is beautifully printed in blue and black inks on thin, uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Photo of the back of the flyer available on request.
