April 1977 Japanese concert tour program

Original concert program produced for the J. J. Johnson Quintet’s April 1977 12-date Japanese concert tour, kicking off in Tokyo on Friday, 8th April, 1977. Leading a quintet that included trumpeter Nat Adderley, keyboardist Billy Childs, bassist Tony Dumas, and drummer Kevin Johnson, the tour marked the return to touring for J.J., who had spent much of the 1965-76 period working nearly full-time as an arranger/composer. The show in Yokohama on 20th April was recorded and released as The Yokohama Concert on Pablo Records, his first recording in eight years.

In original illustrated coated wrappers, staple bound, 20.9 x 29.6 cm, 32 pp. All text in Japanese. The two staples are rusty, else in excellent complete condition, tightly bound and clean. Appears unread. Additional images of the program available on request.
