Musikhalle, Hamburg May 1979 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz vibraphonist, pianist, percussionist, and bandleader Lionel Hampton at the Musikhalle in Hamburg [Germany] on Saturday, 26th May, 1979, with a star ensemble that included Curtis Fuller, Paul Jeffrey, Paul Moen, René McLean, Joe Newman, Charles Sullivan, Wild Bill Davis, Richie Pratt, and Gary Maccoroppi. Lionel Hampton died on 31st August, 2002, aged 94, and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx, immediately adjacent to both Miles Davis and Duke Ellington’s graves.

The poster measures 59.2 x 83.8 cm and is beautifully printed on thin, uncoated paper stock. Neatly machine folded with light wear along the fold lines and a tiny diagonal crease to the top right corner. Additional photos available on request.
