Tonhalle, Düsseldorf May 1979 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz vibraphonist, pianist, percussionist, and bandleader Lionel Hampton at the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf [Germany] on Monday, 21st May, 1979, presented by Pater Walter and Ulrich Gerhartz’s Konzertmanagemnt Kiel in cooperation with Blitz Musik. Hampton was touring Europe with a star ensemble that included Curtis Fuller, Paul Jeffrey, Paul Moen, René McLean, Joe Newman, Charles Sullivan, Wild Bill Davis, Richie Pratt, and Gary Maccoroppi. Lionel Hampton died on 31st August, 2002, aged 94, and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx, immediately adjacent to both Miles Davis and Duke Ellington’s graves.

The poster measures 59.2 x 83.9 cm (approx. 23.3″ by 33″ inches) and is beautifully printed in red and black inks on thin, coated paper stock.
