February/March 1966 UK concert tour program
Original vintage concert program for American jazz clarinetist Gorge Lewis’ Jan/Feb 1959 nationwide tour of Great Britain with a band that consisted of Kid Howard, Jim Robinson, Joe Watkins, Joe Robichaux, and Alcide “Slow Drag” Pavageau. Presented by the National Jazz Federation, the tour kicked off at the Odeon Cinema in London on 11th January and ended at the New Victoria Cinema also in London on 1st February, 1959. In between the two London dates, Lewis visited Leicester, Southampton, Bristol, Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham, Sheffield, Liverpool, Bradford, and Manchester.
In original red and black pictorial wrappers, staple bound, 21.0 x 26.6 cm, 20 pp. Program notes by James Asman and Brian Harvey. Near fine, tightly bound and clean without any markings. Additional photos available on request.
