Musikhalle, Hamburg December 1971 concert poster
Original first printing concert poster advertising Irish rock legend Rory Gallagher at the Musikhalle in Hamburg [Germany] on Saturday, 18th December, 1971, presented by Karsten Jahnke, and with Nazareth and English folk music duo Curtiss Maldoon also on the bill. The Hamburg concert was the last stop on a short four-date German tour during December in support of the Deuce album, commencing at the Stadthalle in Offenbach on 15th December. Produced by Gallagher himself and released on 28th November, 1971 by Polydor Records, Deuce was his second solo studio album. Recorded at London’s Tangerine Studios, the album featured Gerry McAvoy on bass guitar and Wilgar Campbell on drums and percussion. In contrast with his previous album, Rory Gallagher, where Gallagher tried for a precise, organised sound, Deuce was his first of many attempts to capture the energy of a live performance in the studio.
The poster measures 59.3 x 83.8 cm (approx. 23.3″ by 33″ inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded and unmarked condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
