De Montfort Hall, Leicester May 1971 concert poster

Large original first printing concert poster advertising Ella Fitzgerald at the De Montfort Hall in Leicester [England] on Sunday, 9th May, 1971, presented by Arthur Kimbrell by arrangement with Harold Davison, and with Count Basie & His Orchestra also on the bill. For the European tour, Ella was accompanied by the Tommy Flanagan Trio. Basie’s orchestra included Paul Cohen, Sonny Cohn, George Minger, Waymon Reed (trumpets); Al Grey, John Watson, Bill Hughes, Mel Wanzo (trombones); Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Curtis Peagler, Bobby Plater, Cecil Payne, Eric Dixon (saxophones); Freddie Green (guitar), Norman Keenan (bass), Harold Jones (drums), and Mary Stallings (vocals).

The poster measures 101.8 x 76.1 cm and is printed in purple and black inks on thin, matte-coated paper stock (coated on front only). Printer’s imprint (Electric Modern Printing, Manchester) to the bottom left corner. Folded thrice with some creasing along the bottom border.
