Musikhalle, Hamburg May 1969 concert poster

Original first printing concert poster advertising American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald (1917–1996) at the Musikhalle in Hamburg [Germany] on Tuesday, 13th May, 1969, presented by Norman Granz in association with Lippmann+Rau and Hans-Werner Funke. Accompanied by pianist Tommy Flanagan, bassist Frank de la Rosa, and drummer Ed Thigpen, the concert in Hamburg was part of an extensive European, which culminated with two shows at the Lucerna Hall in Prague on 27th June, 1969. While touring in Europe, Warner Bros. booked studio time at Olympic Studios in London for her to work with producer Richard Perry. The efforts resulted in the album Ella, the first of two albums recorded for the Reprise label. The album continued the theme set on Fitzgerald’s previous album, consisting in the main part of cover versions of popular songs from the late 1960s. The poster features uncredited typographical artwork by Günther Kieser.

The poster measures 83.8 x 59.8 cm (approx. 33″ by 23.5″ inches) and is beautifully printed in black ink on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. In excellent unfolded condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item. Additional images of the poster available on request.
