Deutsches Museum, Munich October 1959 concert poster (Michel+Kieser)
Original first printing vintage concert poster advertising Duke Ellington at the Deutsches Museum in Munich [Germany] on Sunday, 11th October, 1959, presented by Norman Granz in cooperation with Lippmann+Rau. The concert in Munich was part of Ellington’s tour of Europe during September and October 1959, with an orchestra that featured Johnny Hodges, Ray Nance, Harry Carney, Paul Gonsalves, Cat Anderson, Quentin Jackson and Clark Terry. Immediately after the tour, Clark Terry left the band although he would record with it several times over the next 14 years. Authentically signed by Kieser immediately below the imprint.
The poster measures 59.8 x 83.8 cm and is printed in green and black inks on thin, uncoated paper stock. Neatly folded twice with a couple of tiny rips to the top border, else in remarkably near excellent condition. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have concerning this item.
