September/October 1959 European concert tour program (Michel+Kieser)

Original vintage concert program for Duke Ellington’s September/October 1959 European tour, presented by Norman Granz in association with Horst Lippmann. The orchestra for the tour included Johnny Hodges, Ray Nance, Harry Carney, Paul Gonsalves, Cat Anderson, Quentin Jackson and Clark Terry. Immediately after the tour Clark Terry left the band although he would record with it several times over the next 14 years. Program artwork and design by Hans Michel and Günther Kieser.

In original pictorial matte-coated wrappers, perfect bound, 27.7 x 25.5 cm, 24 pp. Trilingual edition with program notes in German, French and English. Light wear to spine and extremities and a paper clip mark to the back wrapper, else near fine, tightly bound and clean. Additional photos available on request.
